Exercising outdoors 'requires a schedule and commitment'

09/03/2010
People thinking about exercising outdoors should have a clear plan and schedule in place, according to one expert.

Steve Halsall, Mirror.co.uk expert and fitness entrepreneur, said that before people start to think about the content of their routines, they should put in place a schedule to make sure it is a "smooth process".

Mr Halsall believes that people in the UK "have lost touch with reality" when it comes down to exercise and weight loss.

"We have got to step back from the quick fix fitness mentality that has swamped us over 20 years and realise that it is a lifelong game," he explained.

Celebrity fitness expert Nicki Waterman recently suggested that keep fit routines which include trampoline exercise are set to be big this year.

She said that powerplining classes, which combine muscle-toning power plates and jumping on a trampoline, will increase in popularity.

"During the class you switch from the plate to the trampoline and can burn up to 300 calories in a 20-minute class," she explained.
