'Encourage outdoor play' with garden trampolines
24/07/2009 Parents can use outdoor trampolines to lure their children away from the TV and computer screen and into the garden, it has been suggested.
According to a www.pidst.org editorial, a lack of outdoor exercise is a growing problem among young people and obesity is one of the common results.
The writer claims garden trampolines are likely to be considered a more attractive proposition than a bike or a swimming pool by many children.
With no rules to follow or particular technique to be learnt, trampoline exercise is accessible to all, even the least sporty of individuals, it is suggested.
They add: "A trampoline is simple - you just start moving. Even one hour a day can decrease health problems and start your child toward a better life.
"Exercising instead of sprawling out on the couch is the right way to live. Yes, we should allow our children to watch television; yes, they should be allowed to chat online with their friends. But they should also be made to move. Give them exercise with a trampoline."
In an article posted on EzineArticles, Keith Barrett recently claimed that buying a garden trampoline is one way parents can encourage their children to lose weight.
