12-year-old prepares for Trampoline world games
22/10/2009 A young gymnast in the US is preparing to take on the world in Russia next month.
Henry Baer from Town and Country has been getting his routine down to an art before he sets off to St Petersburg for the World Age Games in November, reports Suburban Journals.
Baer spends around 12 hours a week practicing on an indoor trampoline measuring approximately 12ft by 7ft.
The young gymnast has spent the last five years preparing for the event at his club the St Louis Elite.
He said that after he started out simply doing the sport for fun, he decided to take it a lot more seriously.
The youngster told the news provider: "I wanted it to be a sport that I could do well in. I just decided I was going to try my hardest to get as far as I can."
Next month will be his first chance to represent his country when he competes at the championships.
The games run concurrently with the 26th Trampoline World Championships, the first of which was held in London in 1964.
