Adults 'not doing enough outdoor exercise activities'
17/12/2009 High numbers of people who believe they take part in the right amount of exercise and outdoor activities fall short of government guidelines, reports the Press Association.
A new report has revealed that just one in ten people who think they get enough exercise actually do the recommended amount. In total only six per cent of men and four per cent of women were hitting the government's targets.
The government recommends that adults take part in 30 minutes of exercise or outdoor activities at least five days a week. This number increases for children to 60 minutes of physical activity per day.
Results from the most recent study echo statistics released by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) in November. The BHF study revealed that although just 11 per cent of children are taking part in the recommended amount of physical activity per day, 70 per cent of parents believe their children are doing enough exercise.
One option for parents struggling to do enough exercise is purchasing a trampoline. Unlike most traditional forms of exercise equipment they provide an effective form of exercise to both adults and children.
