Area for outdoor play activities set to reopen
27/04/2010 Children in Worcestershire will soon be able to feel the benefits of outdoor play activities as a new activity area is set to reopen.
The area in Abby Park, Evesham, will have a new selection of outdoor play equipment, including a trampoline, the Evesham Journal reports.
A climbing frame, see-saw and a wide slide, designed for use by younger children and those with special needs, have also been installed.
The newspaper said that the new area for outdoor play activities takes into account the guidelines suggested by Play England which encourage a "natural approach to play".
Lynn Stevens, Wychavon parks officer, told the Journal: "This is an exciting new playground and we hope everyone will enjoy coming down and having fun."
It has been suggested recently that those who take part in outdoor play activities as children are more likely to lead healthy lifestyles as adults.
The study, conducted at the University of Ulster, concluded that outdoor play activities were important for child development.
