Bexley children given new outdoor play activities
01/04/2010 Children in the London Borough of Bexley will be able to feel the benefits of outdoor play activities thanks to a number of new schemes.
In total 12 projects have been created through cash from the Playbuilder scheme and a further 13 are expected to be complete in 12 months' time, the Bexley Times reports.
Overall £1.2 million of funding will be spent over the next two years.
The newspaper explained that each outdoor play experience will focus on a different aspect of the area's history or culture.
Councillor June Slaughter told the news provider: "What is so beneficial about this scheme is the way in which it will keep the history of our area and folklore alive for generations to come."
A recent survey by Play England revealed that parents increasingly understand the benefits of outdoor play activities.
In total 83 per cent of respondents said that the government should have policies in place to encourage outdoor play.
