Bossaball; the new game for trampoline enthusiasts
25/11/2009 Bossaball is a new sport combining trampolines and volleyball that is growing in popularity worldwide, according to the writer of a health blog.
The nutrition supplements blog says the game was born on the beaches of Spain but is now being played in countries across Latin America, Asia and Europe.
Rule wise the game is very similar to volleyball. The aim is to get the ball over the net and land in the opposite sides 'field'. When the ball is in your field each team has a maximum of eight touches using different parts of the body. The ball can only be touched once with your hand and twice with your foot or head.
However an extra dimension is added to the game as it is played on trampolines. Teams score when the ball lands on the opposite sides trampoline.
The blog says that the key skill for Bossaball is co-ordination as chances are you're going to spend most of the game in the air. Players should also get used to the idea of falling.
Games played on trampolines are increasing in popularity across the globe. In the US the floor of Sky Zone gyms are completely covered in trampolines, creating a new basketball type game of the same name.
