Brit teenager to take part in world trampoline championships
20/10/2009 Brit teenager Steven Williams has been called up to the British men's trampoline team and will show off his moves at the world championships being held in St Petersburg next month.
According to a report in the Prestwich and Whitefield Guide, the event will mark the first time 17-year-old Steven has competed internationally at a senior level.
Speaking to the news provider, the youngster, who has twice been named British trampoline youth champion, said: "It's a very young age to be going into a senior competition and I've got a few ongoing injuries, but I'm doing lots of training."
Steven, who is a hopeful for the 2012 Olympic Games, first began trampolining at the age of six and now practices five days a week for up to eight hours at a time.
"I had a go at trampolining and loved it, so I've been doing it ever since," he told the newspaper.
It was recently reported by the Chronicle that 14-year-old Daniel Fawcett of South Shields will be joining the Great Britain squad for the World Age Group Championships in St Petersburg in November.
