British trampoline athletes win international competition
04/06/2010 The British trampoline team have emerged victorious from the four-way Trampoline International in Prague.
Members of the mixed gender team were competing against sportsmen and women from Denmark, Portugal and the Czech Republic in the event which took place in late May.
Amanda Parker, Amanda Harris, Liam Abrahams, Nicholas Joyce, Nick Davies and Zara Hall managed to achieve a combined winning score of 403.90, ahead of the Czech team who scored 387.70.
Davies also managed to achieve the highest individual male score of 103.40.
British Gymnastics said: "From the start, GB's consistency and form put them in a very positive position."
None of the six British athletes were World Cup funded, as per the entry requirements, and none had competed in the recent European championships.
All members were also required to be on a "continued upward developmental pathway".
This year has already been good for the sport of trampolining, with trampoline athletes of student age being able to compete in the British Universities and Colleges Sport Championships for the first time in March.
