Canada takes trampoline bronze
13/11/2009 The Canadian gymnastic team is celebrating after they took the bronze medal at the World Trampoline Championships in St Petersburg, Russia.
Three-time Olympic medallist Karen Cockburn helped Canada to a bronze medal as she teamed with Rosannagh MacLennan, also of Toronto, and Samantha Sendel of Ontario.
Cockburn also secured a place in the women's individual event earlier in the week, reports the timescolonist.com.
China won gold and hosts Russia took the silver medal.
Emily Smith of Ontario and Ashley Speed of Toronto have successfully qualified for the women's tumbling final at the weekend.
Alex Seifert of Calgary qualified for the final in the men's double-mini trampoline, meanwhile Julie Warnock of Calgary and Corissa Boychuk of Altamont qualified in the women's competition.
Seifert will be joined by Luke Friesen of British Columbia, Kyle Soehn of Red Deer, and Scott Young of Calgary in the men's team final.
Cockburn and MacLennan also qualified for the women's individual final. The competition continues through Saturday.
