City of Liverpool Trampoline Squad jumping for joy
22/09/2009 A team of Liverpool gymnasts are celebrating after it was announced that eight club members have been selected for the World Age Group Championships (WAGC).
The City of Liverpool Trampoline Squad will see its prized assets head to St Petersburg in Russia for the games in November, reports the Liverpool Echo.
It will be the third successive occasion that Liverpool can boast of having more gymnasts in the Great Britain squad than any other club in the UK.
The WAGC is staged biannually and is the largest international trampoline gymnastics event in the world, with the British delegation alone to be over 100.
Among those picked is the 2008 Junior European Champion Emma Smith from Widnes, the 2009 Junior British Champion Luke Strong from Tranmere, Bradley Hampson from Norris Green, Sophie Singleton from Aigburth and Katy Buitendyk from Fazakerley.
The club head of the trampoline gymnastics programme, Jay Scouler, has also been named as Great Britain head coach.
