Clear guidelines improve trampoline safety
25/03/2010 Parents should set clear guidelines to ensure that children stay safe while having fun on a trampoline, according to one advice blog.
Jerry Benson, writing for ezinearticles.com, said that putting clear boundaries and rules in place for children can seriously reduce the risk of injuries.
Mr Benson said it should be made clear that people should stay a safe distance from the trampoline while it is in use.
"Somersaults should be discouraged as they are higher risk and the injuries associated can be serious," he added.
Adult supervision was recommended at all times, as was carrying out period maintenance checks to ensure the trampoline stays in good working order.
If used properly a trampoline can provide many health benefits for children, including improved balance, coordination and muscle tone.
Writing for the Daily Mirror, Dr Miriam Stoppard recently recommended purchasing a mini trampoline as a great way of helping kids lead a happy and healthy life.
She said they are suitable for children as young as 18 months old.
