Coach among those selected for trampoline squad
10/09/2009 A coach is among the four-strong squad from East Kilbride who have been selected to travel with the Great Britain gymnastic squad to Russia in November.
The members of the East Kilbride Trampoline Club are among the country's elite who will be facing the world's best at the World Age Group Games - the equivalent of the Olympics for power tumbling - in St Petersburg, Russia, in November, reports East Kilbride News.
Rebecca Ogilvie, Louise McCartney, Pamela Clark and Louise Whitters will all compete in their individual age groups, while Rebecca Ogilvie and Louise McCartney will also compete in the synchronised event.
In a glowing testament to her training methods, East Kilbride's head coach Olivia Sorbie is also celebrating after being asked to go with the Great British team as one of the coaches.
Earlier in the year, the girls had to battle through qualifying events at the National Sports Centre at Lillieshall.
Each of the girls were medal winners at this year's British National Championships held at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena, so they have high hopes of doing well in Russia.
