17/06/2010 The World Cup is encouraging more people to take up jobs within the fitness industry, such as trampoline coaching.
Ben Jones, of training provider Lifetime, told the Mirror, that that the fitness industry is important for tackling obesity in the UK.
According to the news provider, there are around 8,000 jobs available in the sports and fitness industry each month and Mr Jones said that there is a need for more people to fill the vacancies.
"The beauty of this industry is if you are passionate about fitness, enjoy working with people and are a great communicator, it's perfect for you," he added.
Mr Jones explained that it is not just school-leavers that are choosing the fitness industry as a career, but many people in their 20s and 30s are now training for roles such as a trampoline coach or fitness instructor.
The World Cup is also likely to encourage more people to start a new healthier lifestyle, even if they don't go as far as changing career.
Ron Maughan, professor of sport and exercise nutrition at Loughborough University, said that the ideal "would be just a moderate amount of exercise – 30 to 60 minutes, three or five times per week".
