Council encourages kids to embrace trampolines and arts and crafts
25/03/2010 Chorley council is aiming to get local children with disabilities involved in a range of play activities, including trampolining.
After securing nearly £22,000 in specialist funding, the council will be able to train staff members to ensure full access to a range of activities for with physical and/or severe learning disabilities or challenging behaviour issues.
Councillor John Walker told the Chorley People: "We are committed to developing our provision for all children and young people so we are delighted to have secured £21,980 to enable us to ensure access for children with disabilities to a range of community, sport and leisure activities."
Youngsters will be able to take part in activities such as trampolining, athletics, art-based activities, music workshops, and general activity sessions.
The programme will commence in July this year.
Earlier this week, a poll conducted by Play England showed that 83 per cent of Brits with children want the next government to have policies which encourage kids to take part in outdoor play activities.
