Crowds 'blown away' by trampoline display
27/08/2009 Crowds at a regatta weekend got a special treat from The Kangaroos Gymnastic Team when the group performed some outstanding aerial displays using trampolines.
The team from Polesworth in the Midlands stunned the crowds at the Whitby event on Sunday and Monday with their high flying antics, with acrobats as young as 11 wowing the gathered masses with two shows a day, reports the Whitby Gazette.
A comedy routine and a high spinning trampoline display saw the performers somersaulting 20 ft in the air.
The team, which was formed in 1981, were delighted to perform at the Whitby Regatta, according to organiser Bruce Gracie.
He said: "We have been all over the country performing and we are honoured to have been asked to come for Whitby for the first time.
Mr Gracie added that the boys all came from Polesworth High School and train every week to get to the standard they are at now.
The Kangaroos are now recognised as one of the leading gymnastic display teams in Europe.
