However, there are a number of steps which can be taken to make sure the summer goes ahead stress free.
The Simple Marriages blog recommended ensuring that a certain amount of time is set aside each day for outdoor play activities, even if is it raining, which you can take part in as a family.
Planning the days in advance on a calendar was recommended as one way to ensure that you have enough activities to fill the summer months.
Another suggestion was holding a family meeting to establish what your kids want to do during their time off before the holidays even begin.
"I have found this to be a great resource for planning our summer. The suggestions sometimes surprise me, but we really have done some interesting things due to suggestions," the blogger explained.
She added that one summer the family invested in a trampoline.
Trampoline exercise is great for children as it helps strengthen muscles and improve balance and coordination while contributing to their recommended 60 minutes of exercise each day.
