Diet pills 'no replacement for regularly exercising outdoors'
19/01/2010 Weight loss aids are no replacement for regularly exercising outdoors and eating properly, according to one expert.
A new study by fatfreefitness.co.uk found that out of almost 1,400 women who want to lose weight, 28 per cent of those over the age of 30 had used tablets to try and shed excess pounds.
Rich Leigh, founder of fatfreefitness.co.uk, believes that despite the number of weight loss gimmicks out there, the only way to lose weight and keep it off is by more traditional methods.
"Although it's been said millions of times, healthy and lasting weight loss is only attainable through adhering to a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet inclusive of treats and regular exercise," he said.
The study also found that over 80 per cent of the women who admitted to using weight loss tablets wouldn't use them again because of the side effects they experienced. Some of the most common problems were headaches, nausea and a lack of concentration.
Over two-thirds of women said that they resorted to diet pills as did not have time to exercise. Trampoline exercise is ideal for people with busy schedules as it is extremely efficient and just ten minutes of jumping provides the same benefits as half an hour spent running.
