Dorset trampoline athletes qualify for nationals
30/06/2010 A number of trampoline athletes from a club in Dorset have qualified for the national championships in Birmingham.
Members of the Wessex Flyers, based at Budmouth Sports Centre, recently took part in a trampoline event in Liverpool against other rising trampoline stars for a place in the national finals, the Dorset Echo reports.
In total six members of the Flyers made it through to the Trampoline and Double Mini Tramp (DMT) national finals which are taking place in July.
A spokesperson told the news provider that DMT is a new discipline for the Wessex Flyers and congratulated all those who made it through to the national stages and thanked those who had been involved.
"The gymnasts have only averaged about five hours training each in total, however, until Wessex Flyers receive funding for their own DMT equipment we will have to continue to travel to Poole once a week to use another club's equipment," the spokesperson added.
The Fenland Flyers trampoline club also recently recorded good results at the East Midlands regional grading event in Nottingham, with all 13 members in attendance recording top ten finishes.
