Exercising outdoors 'can boost people's confidence'
04/02/2010 Getting regular exercise such as running, playing sports or even bouncing on a mini trampoline can make people think they look healthier, even if it is not improving their fitness significantly, it has been claimed.
Researchers at the University of Florida highlighted that the psychological benefits of exercise can be just as valuable as the physical ones, reports the Daily Express.
Their findings, which are detailed in the Journal of Health Psychology, showed that there was no difference in body image improvement between people who exercised 30 minutes a day five days a week and those who did less.
Commenting on the results, Professor Kathleen Martin Ginis, of McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, said: "This study shows that doing virtually any type of exercise, on a regular basis, can help people feel better about their bodies."
An easy way to get some regular exercise is to invest in a mini trampoline which you can use for short bursts in the evening.
Bouncing on a mini trampoline, or "rebounding", is good for people's coordination and offers a full body workout.
