Exercising outdoors 'helps kids develop healthy habits'
09/06/2010 It is well-known that kids who regularly spend time exercising outdoors will experience a number of physical benefits.
According to Paulette Konstantaras, owner of 5-Star Tumbling, Trampoline and Cheer in the US state of Illinois, children who are encouraged to take part in physical activities are likely to develop healthy habits for life.
Speaking to Totally Fit Radio, Ms Konstantaras said that kids who spent time exercising outdoors were more likely to continue doing so as adults.
She added that exercising outdoors improves the "quality and quantity" of children's sleep, as well as helping with their social development.
"Exercise aids in the development of important interpersonal skills, especially in team sports," Ms Konstantaras explained.
The news comes as it was revealed how parents in the US believe that ensuring their children take part in outdoor play activities and continue to have learning experiences in the summer months is a priority.
KinderCare Learning Centres found that 80 per cent thought their children having fun was important.
