Family lose three stone in a week thanks to trampoline
02/09/2009 A family whose evenings revolved around junk food and television have managed to lose three stone in a week thanks to a new exercise and health living regime.
Claire Rees, 27, a student from Caerphilly decided to involve the whole family in her quest to lose weight and in just over two months they have dramatically changed their lifestyles, reported Wales Online.
Daughter Megan enrolled on the Fun, Food and Fitness Project, which is a free programme run by Caerphilly Local Health Board to help families with concerns about their children's weight.
The ten-week course is for children aged eight to 11 and their families and works by raising awareness of the importance of healthy eating and regular exercise, offering help from a nutritionist, a physical activity specialist and a behavioural psychologist.
So now rather than watching TV after school, Megan is using a trampoline in the garden for five minutes every night and the family, including grandma Sue, 53, also take every opportunity to splash around in the 12ft paddling pool.
Fitness expert Aohra Feliciano told Inquirer.net last week that jumping and bouncing on the trampoline makes the legs more powerful so that they act as a complementary pump for invigorating the heart.
