Forest festival brings outdoor play games to Tweed Valley
26/10/2010 The annual Tweed Valley Forest Festival will begin this week, treating children in Scotland to a number of outdoor play games including a conker championship and Halloween-themed activities.
According to the Southern Reporter, the 10-day event will allow the region's youngsters to feel the benefits of outdoor play through a selection of games and activities to get them exercising outdoors.
Festival coordinator Chris Sawers told the newspaper that local people were "looking forward" to the event and highlighted a number of its features which never fail to pull in the crowds.
"The wood market is a great opportunity to see some brilliant wooden products by people who are actually there. The market and the conker championships and activities on the Green are always special," he said.
Meanwhile, children in the Ealing borough of London are to feel the benefits of outdoor play, with football and trampoline facilities being set up across the region for the half term holiday, EalingToday.co.uk reported.
