Future stars qualify for trampoline final
24/08/2009 Two US youngsters are celebrating after qualifying for the Final Trampoline Selection Event of the Visa Championships in Las Vegas.
It is a gamble which could pay off for Ryan Bohn who qualified in trampoline and synchronized trampoline, reports the Northwest Herald.
Bohn, 17, trains at 5 Star Academy in Crystal Lake with James Lichtenstein of Buffalo Grove, who also qualified for the Final Selection Event.
They will compete as partners in the synchronized trampoline competition at the event which takes place September 24th to 27th ahead of the announcement of the World Age-Group team in trampoline and tumbling.
Paulette Konstantaras, owner of 5 Star, said that the synchronized events pose very different problems to the individual event.
"It's pretty difficult for them to stay synchronized and complete their routines," Konstantaras told the news provider. "It's way harder than by themselves."
Bohn has been training with Konstantaras since he was eight years old and she admits that she did not expect him to become an elite athlete when he first came into her gym.
The 19th World Age Group Competition in Trampoline, Tumbling and Double Mini Trampoline will take place in St Petersburg between November 15th and 22nd this year.
