Garden trampolines 'help families beat winter blues'
08/11/2010 Parents looking for ways to combat the so-called winter blues brought on by miserable weather and shorter days should invest in trampolines for the garden and get their family exercising outdoors.
The Irish Independent has recommended a number of outdoor play ideas to get British families out into the garden and participating in light physical activity in a bid to beat Seasonal Affective Disorder.
"Evidence shows that 30 minutes' vigorous exercise three times a week is effective against depression, and lighter exercise will have a beneficial effect too," the newspaper reported, highlighting the value of trampolines for the garden.
Those feeling low in the winter months were urged to try exercising outdoors whenever the weather is mild, as brighter days will allow families with a trampoline to really feel the benefits of outdoor play.
Earlier this month, a survey by Persimmon Homes revealed that the average UK family now spends less than six minutes playing together each day, signaling the need for more parents to buy garden trampolines.
