GB trampoline athletes chosen
17/03/2010 The team which will represent the UK at the 22nd European Trampoline Championships this year has been chosen.
British Gymnastics will be sending almost 20 trampoline athletes to compete in the event in Varna, Bulgaria, between April 20th and 24th.
The line-up includes 2012 Olympic hopeful James Higgins and rising star Bradley Hampson, who recently won Young Sports Personality of the Year in his home town Liverpool, as well as Hampson's teammate Daniel Greaves.
Athletes will represent the UK in seven events: the senior men's, senior men's synchro, senior women, junior boys, junior boys synchro, junior girls and junior girls synchro competitions.
Georgina Sharples, programme director for trampolining, offered her congratulations to everyone who has been selected.
"The GB team comprises a blend of experience and debutants, a chance for some to enhance reputations and some to make their first strides into the international domain," she explained.
State-of-the-art Eurotramp 4x4 trampolines will be used at the event, the most powerful trampoline certified by the International Gymnastics Federation.
Team members will be hoping to repeat their impressive performance at the World Trampoline Championships in St Petersburg, Russia, in November 2009.
