Gentle trampoline exercise 'suitable for older people'
26/04/2010 Gentle exercise on a mini trampoline can be beneficial for older people, according to one blog.
Strength Training for Older People said that those who are concerned about the safety of jumping on a trampoline should bear in mind that mini trampolines, or rebounders, are not the same as the large garden trampolines used by children.
"The exercise trampolines are smaller than they used to be and as with any exercise you should check with your doctor and then start off cautiously. Some even have handles to hold on to," it explained.
Trampoline exercise was said to be great for older people as it helps to stimulate the lymphatic system, which does not perform its function as well in someone who lives a sedentary lifestyle.
The lymphatic system is responsible for a number of things, including the removal of toxins from the body and filtering the blood.
Recently, Missy Chase Lapine, the author of the Sneaky Chef books, said that putting a mini trampoline in the living room is a great way of encouraging kids to exercise.
