Girls raise hundreds from trampoline charity event
11/02/2010 A sponsored trampoline jump helped the residents of Keighley to raise thousands of pounds for the victims of the Haitian earthquake.
The Keighley News reports that over just seven days local residents managed to raise over £8,000 for charity through a series of events.
On Sunday February 7th, three girls took part in a two-hour-long sponsored trampoline jump for the cause. Eliza Dewhurst, Katie Womersley and Isobel Town managed to raise a total of £550 through their efforts.
Other activities which took place included a benefit, coffee morning and bring and buy sale.
Trampoline fundraising events are becoming increasingly popular as a way of getting local communities involved in helping charities.
Members of the University of Worcester trampoline club managed to raise £450 for new equipment at a 24-hour sponsored bounceathon earlier in the year, according to the Worcester News.
The Springfit trampoline club in Horley and the Pointers trampoline club in Caterham also managed to raise £1,000 through a similar event.
