Jumping on trampoline 'lower impact exercise than jogging'
26/08/2010 Jumping on a trampoline is a great exercise for those who are unable to take part in high-impact activities like running and jogging.
The Fitness Site blog explained that the flexible bed of the trampoline means less impact has to be absorbed by the body, which makes it great for those who have weaker joints or are just getting back into fitness.
Trampolines also provide a great source of cardiovascular exercise, which improves heart health, the blog explained.
"You can, as an added bonus, reduce your high cholesterol levels and the triglyceride (fats) level[s] in your body," it added.
Trampoline events are also growing in popularity within the sporting world, as the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore have shown.
Last week, Yu Dong from China took gold in the women's trampoline final and Oleksandr Satin from Ukraine finished top in the men's.
The games received worldwide coverage from over 160 broadcasters and attracted more than 3,600 young athletes.
