Katz pounces ahead of World Trampoline Championships
29/09/2009 A US youngster is celebrating after being included in the US trampoline team.
Trey Katz, from Charleston in the US will be swapping his school books for autograph books when he heads to St Petersburg for the 26th World Trampoline Championships in November, reports the Journal Gazette.
The Charleston High School junior was the first-place Double-Mini Trampoline winner in the final selection event last weekend at Las Vegas.
Katz said that he was delighted to see all his hard work pay off.
He told the news provider: "I knew I was going to do pretty well because it's been between me and another gymnast. I upgraded my degree of difficulty and it paid off."
Along with his coach Zac Lawson and Jaime Garza of Charleston's Sun Elite Athletic Club, a decision was made to attempt a more difficult routine in order to gain more points.
However his coach Mr Lawson joked that the routine was not perfect as he had wound up a little out of the landing area so points were deducted
