Kids to exercise outdoors in Cheshire village
25/03/2010 Residents of Audley in Cheshire have won a campaign to bring facilities for kids to exercise outdoors in the region.
Members of the Children of Audley Residents' Association (CARA) have successfully won a £50,000 grant under the government's Playbuilder scheme and will now install a play area in the village centre.
A further £50,000, raised by CARA itself over the past few years will also go towards the construction of a play area for toddlers placed next to the new outdoor exercise facility, the Sentinel reports.
Ann Beech, chairman of the organisation, told the newspaper: "There aren't many facilities for children in Audley and all we have wanted all along was to give the children a safe place where they could play and exercise with their friends."
A recent poll conducted by Play England showed that over three-quarters of parents believe that the government should be doing more to encourage outdoor play activities among children.
