Lack of outdoor play 'a worry for 90% of parents'
07/03/2011 Britain's mums and dads may well be looking to buy trampolines for the garden this week, as new research suggests that 90 per cent of parents would like their children to take part in more outdoor play activities.
The survey, conducted by new campaign Parents for Playgrounds, also found that Brits think their children are happiest when feeling the benefits of outdoor play.
However, director of the charity Play England, Adrian Voce, pointed out that outdoor play activities were not just limited to improving the general happiness of youngsters, but also their health.
"Outdoor play is the way most children, especially the younger ones, get the level of physical activity they need. It therefore has a big impact on the efforts to combat childhood obesity," he added.
Trampolines for the garden, which have proved extremely popular in recent years, are just one fun and cost-effective method for families – adults and kids alike – to enjoy feeling the benefits of outdoor play.
