Londoners offered trampoline exercise

14/07/2010
Residents of London who cannot wait for the 2012 Olympics to take place in their home city could head to Greenwich Park later this month.

July 24th will see the area, which will form part of the Olympic Village in the east of the capital, transformed into a Get Active in the Park event, offering a wide range of sports for people to try.

A trampoline will be present, along with experts to teach attendees the basics of the Olympics' other minority sports, such as equestrian events, tae kwon-do, judo, volleyball and fencing, the Docklands 24 reports.

Councillor John Fahy, cabinet member for culture and Olympics, told the newspaper: "Sportsmen and women will be competing here in 2012 to set new records, watched by billions of people around the world. This is a chance for Greenwich residents to join in."

The fitness blog on busywomensfitness.com recently explained that trampoline exercise has many benefits for the body beyond losing weight and toning up, such as the stimulation of the internal systems in the body.
