Michelle Obama shows exercising outdoors can be fun
22/10/2009 First lady Michelle Obama showed children that exercising outdoors can be great fun yesterday as she demonstrated her hula-hooping skills on the White House lawn.
Ms Obama was speaking at a fair to encourage children to get more exercise and eat healthily and showed the attending youngsters how much fun getting fit can be by trying out various items of play equipment for herself.
She wowed the crowds by managing 142 swivels with a hula hoop but was not as successful at skipping.
Addressing attendees, Ms Obama highlighted that schools need to do more to encourage children to exercise regularly.
Anyone looking for their own fun way to get fit could try exercising on a trampoline.
The Cholesterol Facts blog recently stated that while some workouts can be tedious, trampolines and fun "go hand-in-hand", adding that the equipment also helps improve muscle tone and coordination.
