Moderate outdoor exercise 'should be built into routine'
16/06/2010 People looking to lose weight should build a moderate amount of time spent exercising outdoors into their daily routine, one expert has suggested.
A spokesperson for the organisation Slimming World said that the "very best way" to lose weight is by using the tried and tested method of combining a healthy diet with moderate levels of physical activity.
She added that enlisting the help of a friend in your efforts can help you stay motivated and provide moral support.
However, the spokesperson added that one of the most important aspects of beginning any new routine was "to do something that you enjoy and to make it fun".
"When your experience of exercise is satisfying, that's motivation in itself," she explained.
She added that if you don't do something you enjoy "once the initial motivation has worn off, you'll find it very difficult to maintain your efforts".
The comments come after a poll by the women's car insurance specialist Diamond found that women are more likely to diet and exercise with a friend, and the average women who diets with a friend will lose more than ten pounds.
