More kids exercising outdoors with trampolines
25/11/2010 Increasing numbers of children are feeling the benefits of outdoor play, as more parents buy trampolines for the garden to encourage their kids to improve their fitness.
According to the My Kids Health blog, trampolines are among the top three outdoor play activities enjoyed by youngsters in the UK.
The writer highlighted online research, which shows that an average of three hours is spent exercising each week by children with a trampoline in their garden at home.
"As an increasing number of children and adults are becoming obese, trampolines could become an effective way to include children's exercise in a daily routine, encouraging fitness and weight loss," they added.
The blogger also cited a Nasa study, which had reportedly shown that exercise on a trampoline was up to 60 per cent more effective than any other kind.
Earlier this week, child safety expert Rowan Queen suggested that, with the addition of trampoline safety enclosures and padded mats, outdoor play activities are getting safer all the time.
