Multiple users 'cause trampoline accidents'
09/07/2009 Parents should ensure they take the safety of their children seriously when they are playing on trampolines, it has been suggested.
Speaking to WCCO.com, trauma surgeon Dr Matt Byrnes, of the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital, urged mums and dads to make sure only one child plays on a trampoline at a time.
He claimed that the majority of trampoline accidents happen when more than one person is bouncing, adding that this should be avoided.
Dr Byrnes said: "Multiple kids on the trampoline or multiple adults on the trampoline for that matter is always dangerous.
"That creates a different propulsion up in the air and so they go higher than they were expecting to or they don't jump with quite the same trajectory that they were expecting to."
A Daily Herald editorial claimed this week that safe trampolining maximises outdoor fun for all the family.
