Mum loses weight on a trampoline to stop her kids being bullied

03/11/2009
A mum lost over seven stones in weight after her sons were bullied in school for her being overweight.

Claire Giles, a single mum of three from Llanrumney, was determined to lose weight and get her kids involved in exercise too, reports Wales Online.

After weighing in at 18st 13.5lbs, Ms Giles decided that she had to face her fear and go to the gym, so she joined Llanrumney Slimming World group on October 2nd last year.

Ms Giles told the news provider what had spurred her on to lose weight.

She said: "Harrison, my oldest, came home a few times a bit upset. I asked what was wrong and he said a boy had said to him: 'your mum can not even fit in a taxi because the size of the taxi does not stretch to that."

Ms Giles added that her sons deserved better than an unhealthy mum who could not play with them and that now she regularly heads down to the pool and jumps on her trampoline.

Earlier this year, health commentator Michael Russell claimed that the g-force exerted on the body by the bouncing motion of a trampoline helps to get rid of toxins in the body.
