New area for outdoor play activities to be built in Waltham
08/10/2010 Youngsters in North East Lincolnshire will soon be able to enjoy the benefits of a new area for outdoor play activities, which will include a trampoline.
Councillors in Waltham, near Grimsby, have secured funding for a play area worth £83,000, This Is Grimsby reports.
The new development, which will be called the Mount Pleasant play area, is designed for use by older children in the village, and is likely to include a trampoline, climbing frame and typhoon swing.
Young people in the area were asked to choose what they would like featured in the playground.
Some £40,000 of funding was granted as part of a redevelopment plan for the local golf course, while the remaining sum is being provided by the Parish Council, according to the news provider.
Outdoor play activities are good for both children's physical and emotional development.
The Love Outdoor Play campaign is currently encouraging parents in the UK to provide opportunities for their kids to spend time playing outside.
More than 30 authors, charities and explorers, as well as Play England, are supporting the campaign.
