New campaign aims to get Scots exercising outdoors
01/03/2010 Residents in Scotland are being urged to exercise outdoors more with the launch of a new national campaign.
Active Nation aims to improve the country's physical activity levels in the run up to the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The Edinburgh Evening News reports that dance students in the capital helped launched the initiative on March 1st.
Accompanying the campaign is a new website which allows people to set personalised goals to enable them to make exercising outdoors part of their lifestyle.
Shona Robison, minister for public health and sport, told the newspaper: "Active Nation is about getting active, having fun and feeling good. It aims to energise and motivate all Scots to increase their physical activity in the run-up to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games."
Sports which will be played at the games include athletics and gymnastic disciplines.
In other news, it was announced last month that approval has been given for the construction of venues which will house the trampoline events at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
