New outdoor play activities area to open in Glasgow
16/07/2010 A new area for outdoor play activities forms part of a family centre that is due to open its doors to members of the public in Glasgow this Saturday (July 16th).
The facilities have been built on the site of two former schools that were closed down by the city's council last year, the Evening Times reports.
Located in the Maryhill area of the city, the facility boasts a learning centre, a sports and fitness area, a stage, a cafe and facilities for outdoor play activities.
Glasgow Lord Provost Bob Winter told the news provider: "This centre is a real asset for the local community and will provide much-needed resources to local people."
He added that they hoped the range of activities on offer would increase over time.
A competition to name the new centre will also be launched on Saturday.
Writing for Helium, Aisling Ash suggested recently that kids should have exercise presented to them in the form of outdoor play activities, as the concept of working out is foreign to them.
