New trampoline craze sweeping the US
06/08/2009 A new trampoline craze is sweeping the US, and which also has fantastic health benefits.
According to Scott Carpenter, one of Nasa's Mercury Seven astronauts, Spaceball is "the best conditioning exercise for space travel".
Basically, players bounce around in their compartment of the trampoline while trying to toss the ball through a little tunnel in the middle and hit their opponent.
The 14 feet by 8.5 feet trampoline supports two players under 200 pounds each, and is great exercise and fun.
Spaceball is a hybrid of basketball, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse, handball, and dodgeball.
According to one blogger on dvice.com: "Needless to say, it's the perfect game for anyone who enjoys any of these things, or all of them at once. Not surprisingly this game was created in the 1960s."
Nasa claims that a ten-minute trampoline session gives the same benefits as a 30-minute jog.
