Outdoor play activities arrive in Norfolk
16/03/2010 The Norfolk town of Stalham has seen the official opening of a new leisure park to encourage more young people to take up outdoor play activities.
Stalham Recreation Ground contains nearly £25,000 worth of sports equipment for those under eight years of age and was opened by fundraiser Edna Woolsey this week as part of a three-phase operation in the region.
According to the Yarmouth Mercury, future projects include outside gym equipment for all ages and a BMX track and possible extension to the existing skate park, with £50,000 already set aside to fund the work.
Town council chairman Tony Ross-Benham praised Mrs Woolsey and her husband's work in raising money for the project, which is hoped to get more young children into keeping fit with exercise.
The Daily Mirror's lifestyle expert Dr Miriam Stoppard recently said that encouraging kids to jump on a mini trampoline is a great way for parents to keep their offspring happy and healthy.
