Outdoor trampolines 'great for kids when supervised'
14/07/2009 A mother has bought a garden trampoline for her twin seven-year-old girls to play on outside, but she forbids them from using it unless they are supervised.
The Daily Herald reports how Cathy Rubey of Downers Grove, Illinois, is keen to make sure her daughters get as much outdoor exercise as possible on the apparatus, but not at the expense of their safety and wellbeing.
Other children from the neighbourhood are allowed to come round and jump on the trampoline, but again, a responsible adult must be present.
As an extra precaution, Ms Ruby carries out routine maintenance checks to make sure everything is secure and the bolts are tight.
She commented: "If it's properly supervised, like anything else, it's fine. Accidents are going to happen when you get a bunch of kids together in one area."
Last week, a writer for the Whatever Mighty website claimed that trampolines are becoming increasingly popular as fun and fitness accessories for the whole family.
