Parents unaware children are not doing enough outdoor play

24/11/2009
Most parents are unaware of how much exercise and outdoor play their children are doing, according to the National Children's Bureau (NCB).

It is recommended that children take part in 60 minutes of physical activity or outdoor exercise every day. Research from the British Heart Foundation revealed that only 11 per cent of children are actually doing this amount.

However 70 per cent of parents believe that their children are doing enough exercise.

Joanne Butcher, from the NCB, said: "Being active, including having opportunities to play, we know are very important for children's health and wellbeing, not only does regular physical activity promote good physical health but also it helps children and young people feel good, supports their development and enables them to learn about relationships."

Buying a trampoline is one way to get your children interested in outdoor play and exercise. Not only are trampolines excellent for physical fitness and over all well being but they provide children with a source of social interaction while they play.

Also unlike team games, children will not feel left out and there are no specific skills or expensive lessons required to take part. ADNFCR-2359-ID-19476913-ADNFCR
