Place a trampoline in front of the TV to 'sneak' exercise into kid's routines
15/01/2010 Putting a mini trampoline in front of the TV has been named as a great way to 'sneak' exercise into your children's daily routine, reports USA Today.
Missy Chase Lapine, parent and co-author of Sneaky Fitness: Fun, Foolproof Ways to Slip Fitness into Your Child's Everyday Life, believes that parents can find ways of getting their children active without forcing exercise on them.
Ms Lapine suggested putting exercise tools in rooms around the house as a way to do this. She said: "Replace dining-table chairs with fitness balls, or put a mini trampoline in front of the TV so your children can jump and keep moving as they watch their favourite shows."
Aside from being fun, trampoline exercises offer a number of benefits to kids. These include providing a good cardio vascular workout, improving balance and co ordination and helping raise overall fitness levels.
Other recommendations for getting youngsters active included making everyday activities, like walking to school, a fitness challenge and involving the whole family in exercise routines.
