Plan outdoor play activities for the school holidays
28/05/2010 Parents should ensure that their children take part in outdoor play activities in summer months but always have safety at the back of their mind.
The Toy Industry Association (TIA) said that the long school holidays provide the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time together.
National Family Week, which takes place between May 31st and June 6th, could also be the ideal time to start.
Adrienne Appell, spokesperson for the TIA, said: "Whether getting up to run and play outside or making arts and crafts during a rainy day indoors, there are so many wonderful toys and games to help families create great memories together this summer."
She added that outdoor play activities were also a great way to get kids to lead a healthier lifestyle.
However, parents were reminded that safety is very important when it comes to letting their kids play outdoors.
Mums and dads were advised to regularly check outdoor play equipment for damage, make sure young children are supervised at all times and pay attention to the age restrictions on toys.
