Play equipment 'tempts children into exercising outdoors'
10/08/2009 Providing children with equipment for outdoor play activities can help encourage them to get outside during the summer months, it has been claimed.
According to a recent report in the Chicago Tribune, children are increasingly spending their summer holidays in front of a TV or computer rather than running about and playing outside.
However, it adds that there are some things parents can do to make their offspring see the benefits of the great outdoors.
The newspaper suggests providing outdoor play equipment to tempt children into the garden and being positive about any outdoor play activities they take part in.
If this does not work, it advocates a 'no electricity time' when kids are unable to watch TV or play video games.
A recent survey by Play England highlighted that parents think their children are naughtier and angrier if they have not had enough time to devote to play.
