Pupil celebrates successful year on trampoline
15/09/2009 A young school pupil is celebrating a second successful year of competing on the trampoline.
Writhlington School pupil Erin Slater has enjoyed competing at national level for a second year which culminated in an appearance at the national gymnastic finals in Birmingham in July.
After hitting the top ten in the majority of the gala events she competed in, and also impressing in other gymnastic disciplines, the youngster has caught the eye of Welsh selectors, reports This is Somerset.
Her individual success can only be topped by her partnership with Rhianna Andrew in the synchronised events.
The duo were ranked third in the country after the six qualifying events and finished fourth at the national finals.
It appears the gymnastic gene runs in the family as Erin's younger sister Hannah is set to compete on the national circuit for the first time next year having moved through the regional gradings with haste.
Evolution Gymnastics Club head coach Sarah Hunt told the news provider: "The success that Erin has achieved has been outstanding and has outdone any of my personal expectations for her this year."
In November, the world's best trampolinists will gather in St Petersburg, Russia for the trampoline and tumbling world championships.
