Pupils achieve trampoline success
29/03/2010 Three pupils at Rowdeford School were deemed the fifth best in the nation at the recent National Schools Trampolining Finals.
Matthew Meadon, from Malmesbury, Connor Hamblin, of Chippenham and Ben Purps, from Melksham, who are all in year 11, had a successful outing at the competition, which was held at Bristol's City Academy earlier this month.
Speaking to the Gazette and Herald, their coach Georgina Sykes, said: "It's such a brilliant achievement because we only entered the whole competition for fun.
"I think that we were the only special school entered."
Ms Sykes continued to say that the achievement was even more remarkable as one of the boys, Ben, only has use of one of his eyes.
Earlier this month, the Lowestoft Journal reported that Kirkley High School student Theo Bidmead became the U19 National Schools Trampolining Champion after producing what his sports teacher described as his "best performance" to date.
